Last week, I had the pleasure of conducting a career workshop with 10th and 11th-graders at the Gymnasium Bayreuther Straße high school in Wuppertal, focusing on careers in the automotive industry and the mobility ecosystem in general.
We began by exploring the history of the automotive industry, discussing key technological advancements, examining various career opportunities, and engaging in deep discussions about the economic significance of our industry both in Germany and globally. Finally, we did a Q&A session aimed at answering many of the students’ questions regarding how to best prepare for a career in the automotive sector.
My take-away from this workshop is that there are so many top talents in our schools who are highly engaged and eager to join us, but we need to give these young people a sense of security and hope that there is still a bright and promising future for them in the automotive industry. This is a challenge we all need to step up to and make sure we do our best to teach this generation that although the industry is in the midst of a large-scale transformation, there are still very promising career opportunities waiting for them.
